Join our team to investigate thrombo-inflammation in various disease settings!
We encourage excellent applicants – well qualified postdocs as well as graduate students (f/m/d – paid according to TV-L) – to submit their application via email to career@platelets.eu.
If capacities are available, Bachelor and Master theses as well as internships can be offered (please enquire via career@platelets.eu).
We are situated in the Rudolf Virchow Center for Integrative and Translational Imaging (RVZ), an inter-disciplinary research center of the University of Würzburg which is part of the Medical Campus of University Hospital Würzburg. The RVZ is currently home to twelve research groups with a translational research focus on the visualization of elementary life processes. The Würzburg Platelet Group offers a modern and international working environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure.
All doctoral candidates are supervised by the University of Würzburg’s “Graduate School of Life Sciences” in order to guarantee a high quality standard in their doctoral studies.
Studying in Würzburg provides a unique opportunity to grow academically and personally in a city that values education and cultural exchange. With its rich cultural heritage, and supportive academic environment, Würzburg is an ideal destination for (international) students.
2 Postdoctoral positions (f/m/d – paid according to TV-L) and
2 Ph.D. student positions (f/m/d – paid according to TV-L)
to investigate a new fundamental cellular effector mechanism in blood platelets and immune cell that drives thrombo-inflammation in various disease settings.
All positions are embedded in the Institute of Experimental Biomedicine and the Rudolf Virchow Centre and are linked to the ERC-Advanced Grant Project
PITT-Inflame.
The positions are available from October 1, 2024 and are initially fixed term.
PostDocs and PhD students will work on projects combining advanced imaging techniques (intravital multiphoton, super-resolution, lattice light sheet microscopy) and multi-omics approaches with mouse models of thrombo-inflammatory diseases.
Besides microscopy, genetically modified mice, functional cellular assays as well as biochemical and molecular biology approaches will be part of the individual projects.
Aim is to provide new insights into pathomechanisms and to explore experimental targeting in collaboration with our industrial partners.
